Role Overview
This hybrid role combines scientific research, product development, and sustainability strategy. You will lead initiatives that improve product quality, reduce environmental impact, and support the company’s long-term sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
Sustainability
• Design, develop and implement sustainability strategies and programs across
• sourcing, production, and distribution.
• Monitor and report on environmental KPIs and compliance (carbon footprint,
• water and energy reduction, waste management, biodiversity conservation).
• Support certifications e.g., Origin Green and ESG reporting requirements.
• Work with suppliers to ensure compliance with sustainable fishing and
• aquaculture standards.
• Ensure Stakeholder engagement and employee training and awareness
• Prepare and coordinate grant applications, project timelines, milestones,
• KPI’s, ensuring alignment with programme criteria, innovation strategy, and
• sustainability goals.
• Develop company environmental standards ISO14001, ISO50001.
Research & Development
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (quality, production, marketing) to
• bring innovations to market.
• Analyze consumer trends and emerging technologies in seafood processing
• and aquaculture.
• Conduct lab and field trials to validate product performance and safety.
• Assist to prepare and submit annual R&D Tax Credit technical reports in
• compliance with Revenue guidelines including identifying eligible R&D
• activities and qualifying costs.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Food Science, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, or
• related field.
• 3+ years of experience in R&D, sustainability, or seafood industry roles.
• Strong understanding of sustainable seafood practices and regulatory
• frameworks.
• Experience with lab testing, product formulation, and lifecycle analysis.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
Desirable Skills
• Familiarity with LCA tools and sustainability reporting platforms.
• Knowledge of circular economy principles and eco-design.
• Experience working with NGOs, certification bodies, or government agencies.
